Being Fed
Inspired by Deuteronomy 8:3
(HCSB) He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then He gave you manna to eat, which you and your fathers had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
In this passage a few words may sound familiar.
Hopefully
it’s, because you remember the latter part being excerpted by Jesus when being
tempted of satan. (Matthew 4:4) Man does not live by bread alone.
In fact the latter portion of the passage is generally
remembered and recited by many for this express reason. However today’s
inspirational thought comes from the illustration at the opening.
He - humbled you,
And - let you go
hungry,
And - Fed You.
A quick reminder that God is always reminded and caring for
your interests…
And yet to add more insight the verse continues;
He gave you manna to eat, which you did not know nor had your fathers known…
A not so subtle reminder that not only does God and will God
provide, He provides in a way that no other can claim to have foresaw or
foreshadow. His provision the King James describes as Angel’s food (Psalm 78:25);
is not open for interpretation it is unmistakable.
It is something designed for
you at your time.
Your point of need.
With that in mind, allow your meditation to focus on a
simple thought.
There are times we want. There are times when lack breeds discouragement
and doubt; and frustration leads to instinctively crying out in all manner of
ways. Yet God instructively tells us – sometimes; there are times you have to
be humbled.
It’s a necessity to be broken, perhaps go without; so God
can feed you.
At the moment -He does, we’re not talking about day old
bread. We’re talking about something new, a brand new provision which no one
but God can be credited for glorified through praise for. Not momma and daddy
nor friend or brother, no one can claim they knew the answer. God provided a
new answer.
With this though also remember the completion of the
passage. So that you might LEARN –
Man does not live by bread alone but one every word that
comes from the mouth of the Lord.
